Our Commitment
My Little Hero is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to our platform.
As a service used by parents, guardians, and educators, and accessed by children, we recognise the importance of meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards to support a wide range of needs.
Key Accessibility Features
Dyslexia Support
We provide an integrated OpenDyslexic font toggle across our reading surfaces to improve readability for children and adults with dyslexia.
Visual Adaptability
A High Contrast mode is available to assist users with visual impairments or those who find standard palettes difficult to navigate.
Keyboard Navigation
All key user journeys, including story generation and reading, are fully navigable via keyboard, with clear focus indicators.
Semantic Markup
We use standard HTML5 semantic elements and ARIA roles to ensure our platform works correctly with screen readers and assistive technology.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
My Little Hero is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard (e.g. AI-generated images lack detailed automated alt-text, though we provide descriptive context).
Testing & Validation
We test our primary user journeys using a combination of:
- Manual testing with keyboard-only navigation.
- Automated accessibility auditing tools (Lighthouse, Axe).
- Screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver).
- Specific testing of the Pupil Bookshelf and Reader surfaces.
